Hosted by NATFA in Sofia, Bulgaria, the fifth annual FilmEU Summit saw the eight partner institutions from around Europe congregate in the Bulgarian capital for a week filled with inspiring keynotes, innovative workshops, leadership discussions, and screenings from the FilmEU Film Festival.
Over four days, students, educators, researchers, and industry professionals from across the alliance and beyond gathered to (re)connect, collaborate, and reflect on our shared theme: Community. New to this edition was the very first FilmEU Film Festival, and just next door, the first ever WIRE by FilmEU Summit also took place.
This was the biggest and most expansive FilmEU Summit to date and one which makes everyone here at IADT excited for the future of film and creative arts education across Europe. FilmEU is an association of eight leading higher education institutions from across the member states and all parts of Europe.
Led by Lusófona University from Portugal, it includes VŠMU - The Academy of Performing Arts, Slovakia, TLU - Tallinn University, Estonia, LMTA - The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, LUCA School of Arts in Belgium, VIA University College, Denmark, IADT - Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology in Ireland, NATFA - The National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts “Krustyo Sarafov”, Bulgaria, VSMU - Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
